Kochu, the Korean word for chili pepper, is one of the main ingredients of the Korean diet, widely known as a healthy spice. Based on a Korean and Japanese combination of dishes, Kochu provides a great choice for a quick snack or a highly nutritious meal.
Kochu is Ottawa’s first take-out experience for fans of both sushi and traditional Korean food. Kochu open its doors in mid-March 2008 through the collective efforts of Misun and Miae Jang. The two sisters, originally from Korea, had the vision of bringing the traditional cuisine of the East for the trendy generation of the West. The result is healthy Sushi and Korean food prepared right in front of you! Miae, the head chef, came to Canada five years ago and became a sushi expert after enrolling in Algonquin College’s Culinary Management Program. Misun, has an extensive public relations background cumulated over ten years of service at the Korean Embassy in Ottawa.
